What is new?
S103 (Raspberry Pi 4) represents the first Neuron model featuring the latest Raspberry Pi generation. Compared to its predecessors the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B comes with a host of improvements, notably a new 1.5GHz processor and selectable RAM capacity of 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB. These features give the S103 (Raspberry Pi 4) a significantly higher computing power.
Type | Raspberry Pi 3 Model B | Raspberry Pi 4 Model B |
CPU | quad-core 1.2 GHz | quad-core 1.5 GHz |
Operating memory | 1 GB RAM | 2 GB/4 GB/8 GB RAM |
Ethernet | 10/100 Mbit | 1 Gbit |
USB | 4× USB 2.0 | 2× USB 2.0, 2× USB 3.0 |
Wireless communication | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 |
For effective cooling, the metal chassis of the controller now also serves as a heatsink for CPU heat dissipation.
What stays the same?
The S103 (Raspberry Pi 4) retains all functions of the default Neuron S103 including the same number of inputs, outputs and communication interfaces (see above). Retained is also the compatibility with available software solutions - aside from the official Mervis platform the controller is also compatible with the Unipi open API or available third-party solutions.
Raspberry Pi 4 on other Neuron models
Do you need to combine Raspberry Pi 4 with other Neuron models? This option is available as part of the Unipi OEM programme, where Raspberry Pi 4 is one of the available computing modules. The minimum order quantity for OEM controllers is 20 pcs. For more info about the OEM programme please visit this link.
