14.6.2023 Mervis version 2.5.0 brings improved searching of functions and function blocks in the context dialog “Add Library Box”, improved certificate validation, ExecutionError task, and much more.

Mervis is a full-fledged software platform provided for free for controllers Neuron, Patron, and 1.1/1.1 Lite complete sets. It is a professional platform suitable for a wide range of applications, from object monitoring to industrial automation. The Mervis IDE, the core of the system, is a development environment for creating, debugging, and managing control programs for Unipi PLCs. It also contains an HMI editor for creating and editing web user interfaces and a visualization editor for the Mervis SCADA service. Aside from the IDE, the Mervis Cloud online service package is also available, consisting of the Mervis DB database for data storage and analysis, Mervis Proxy for secure remote access to controllers, and Mervis SCADA interface. New features in Mervis IDE

Improved searching of functions and function blocks

Search of function blocks with the context dialog “Add Library Box” is now possible not just with block names, but also with the “Display Name” column with comprehensible names. Blocks could therefore be found more effectively, because it is not necessary to know the exact name of the block.

This also led to unification between “FUPLA Box Explorer” tab and “Add Library Box” context dialog.

ExecutionError task
In Mervis IDE version 2.5.0, compared to IDE 2.4.2, it is again possible to map ExecutionError, which is triggered in case of an exception of the main program. This backup program allows setting output to safe state, sending warnings via email/SMS, main program resetting and restarting, or various combinations in automatic or manual mode.

News in Mervis OS

Certificate validation for SSL connection
From Mervis OS 2.5.0.0, the default root certificates are linked directly to the certificates of the ca-certificates package included in the OS. Updating the root certification authorities (CA) is possible by updating the mentioned package via SSH, or by adding new CAs in the Mervis IDE, as was the case in the previous IDE version 2.4.2.
