These models were designed for a large number of one particular kind of I/O - M303 & L303 models offer up to 64 digital inputs, while M403 & L403 will provide you with up to 56 relay outputs. This makes these models suitable for narrowly specialised automation projects working with either a large number of digital binary devices (such as lighting switches, motion sensors or magnetic contacts) or switching a large number of two-state devices via direct or alternate voltage through relays (such as boilers, water heaters or external relays). All mentioned models also retain basic communication interfaces common to Neuron models: RS485 serial line, four USB ports, single Ethernet port and a single 1-Wire bus.
The second reason is the price. As you can see below, all mentioned models have an excellent price per I/O. For example, the L303 offers a price of only €6.70 per I/O even without any discounts. With the discount, this already great price decreases to €5.70 per I/O!
