UniPi Industrial set – Best solution for your factory

Thanks to primary focus of the REX control systems to the industrial automation, UniPi set with pre-installed REX becomes very appropriate combination for managing the machines, robotic manipulators or production lines in your factory. REX is the quickest software platform compatible with UniPi, suitable for (almost) real-time solutions.
Its compatibility with Matlab®-Simulink® system enables simulations before deployment and thereby supports the transfer of new algorithms into industrial practice.

REX software

REX Control System is an advanced tool for design and implementation of complex real time control systems. It consists of two parts: the development tools and the runtime system. The REX Control System offers a graphical development environment for programming your UniPi. The control algorithms are composed from individual function blocks, which are available in the extensive function block libraries. These libraries contain many items (ranging from simple logic operations to PID control and signal filtering ) and cover all common fields of automation and regulation. They also offer a variety of elements for high-level control algorithms. User defined function block can be used for creating unique algorithms in special applications. All function blocks and input/output signals can be monitored and recorded in real-time.

The REX Control System is an open and scalable system suitable for embedded control. It can be used for various target platforms with the C and C++ compilers, ranging from single-purpose control boards with simple real-time executive to process stations with standard operating systems (Windows XP/Vista/7/8, Windows CE, GNU/Linux, Phar Lap ETS, etc.).
User interface (HMI)- You can use an automatically generated HMI for your desktop, tablet or smartphone, or you can design your own HMI. The HMI frameworks rely on HTML5 and work in all common browsers on Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.

Compatibility with Matlab®-Simulink® The REX Control System is a standalone product, however if the license of MatlabSimulink system is available, it is possible to benefit from its compatibility with the REX Control System and exploit its simulation capabilities for testing the designed control algorithms before deployment. As soon as the control algorithm is ready for downloading to target platform, it is compiled to binary configuration files which are sent to the target device by a TCP/IP based protocol and the control algorithm is started immediately.
The function blocks of the REX Control System [1] are available for all target platforms and for Simulink.
On the other hand, the REX Control System is fully functional without Simulink as it includes its own graphical development environment for the design and deployment of advanced control algorithms.

UniPi Board version 1. 1

Due to all of its components and the fact, that UniPi board is designed to fit the cheap and easyto use Raspberry Pi mini computer, UniPi becomes very effective controller, which is uniquely versatile and offers wide variety of uses.
Thanks to its compatibility UniPi can find use not only in households, but also in a bigger buildings like hotels or little factories.

Major building blocks of UniPi board are:

Relays: 8 relays 250VAC@5A or 24VDC@5A – control switching elements, lights, motors, doors opening.
UART port: Standard serial port to connect serial console or many other devices (NFC readers, … )
1Wire port: Provides 1Wire bus interface to connect 1Wire devices such as temperature and humidity sensors
I2C port: For connecting other extension modules for example relay or analog output modules
RTC (Real Time Clock) module: Provides real time in case of internet or power outage (backup battery not included in the package).
Power 5V: 2.1mm connector for power supply
Digital inputs: 12(+2) galvanically isolated digital inputs with LED signalization for reading signals from external devices, windows or alarm sensors
12V out: Power supply 12V@200mA – only for use with digital inputs of the UniPi
Configurable ports: To configure digital inputs for use with external power source
Analog in: Two 0-10V analog inputs for reading analog signals and storing information about the performance and power consuption from certain devices
Analog out: One 0-10V analog output for proportional controlling of connected device
AO trimmer: For precise adjustment of the analog output

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi is a portable, powerful mini computer, compatible with UniPi Board. It is only as big as a credit card but it is a capable little PC. It can be used for many things that your desktop PC does, like high-definition video, home automation, railways or remote control. Raspberry Pi also has wide application range, such as music machines, parent detectors to weather stations, tweeting birdhouses with infra-red cameras, lightweight web server, home automation server, etc. It enables people of all ages to explore computing, learn to program and understand how computers work.
The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B is the second generation Raspberry Pi. It replaced the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ in February 2015.
Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10.

1Wire temperature sensor

1Wire temperature sensor DS18B20 is a digital temperature sensor protected in water-resistant stainless steel cap (6*30mm) with 1,5m long cable with RJ45 connector, which uses 1Wire protocol and is compatible with UniPi.

Power supply

The Meanwell DR -15 -5 power supply 5V & 2,4A is ready for DIN instalation, connector to UniPi is included.
