This is UniPi Building set prepared for home users, mainly focused on managing and remote-controlling of your HVAC-technology. The installation of UniPi Building set is, thanks to its wide spectral compatibility appropriate for new equitherm technology as well as for the older systems which are already installed. It is the best combination for controlling the three-way valves or opentherm boilers. It includes already assembled UniPi set with pre-installed Mervis software, so you just basically connect UniPi to the same network your computer is connected and you can immidiately start creating your smart home.

MERVIS software

The system is designed particularly for control of technical equipment in smart buildings, monitoring, evaluation, and management of energy and media consumption. The system facilitates energy and media savings of up to 30%!

The UniPi will be delivered to you with already installed Mervis RT. Whole Mervis RT is running only on Raspberry Pi, so you just install Windows software Merbon IDE to your computer and the system is ready for you to start configurating your new smart home. With Mervis HMI you can create and design your local web exactly according to your needs. You will get also login for remote proxy server which allows you to access your UniPi remotely in any network, and 10 data points for storing your data on Mervis Database for free.

Easily configurable: UniPi with Mervis software is in accordance with the IEC 61131-3 standard for PLCs, one can easily configure the whole system and set it to the final, user-friendly form. It can be freely connected to additional systems, which need to further work with the operational data. It responds to present-day requirements of functional and flexible systems. With the help of modern cloud technology, a constant updating of the system with immediately available new functions is ensured.

Compatibility: System offers very unique and wide spectral compatibility with older systems, so practically everything (opentherm boilers, smoke detectors, etc.) what is already installed can be connected to UniPi. All the posibilities of distant control and management are immediately possible, and you don’t need a whole new equipment.

Technical solutions: For the connected building, a data file is defined which specifies the means for data display and communication with terminal equipment. The display has three basic modes:

• as a list of data points
• as graphic technological diagrams
• as historical charts and overviews

Values from the single data points are periodically stored in the database. In this database, the data are saved in a special form which enables storing and managing great amount of data (in the order of billions and more records) and fast search and display of the required data at the same time.

UniPi Board version 1. 1

Due to all of its components and the fact, that UniPi board is designed to fit the cheap and easyto use Raspberry Pi mini computer, UniPi becomes very effective controller, which is uniquely versatile and offers wide variety of uses.
Thanks to its compatibility it is very convenient for unification and interconnection of both, already installed and planned systems. UniPi can find use not only in households, but also in a bigger buildings like hotels or little factories.

Major building blocks of UniPi board are:

Relays: 8 x changeover relays rated 250V AC/5A or 24V DC/5A – control switching elements, lights, motors, doors opening.
UART port: Standard serial port to connect serial console or many other devices (NFC readers, … )
1Wire port: Provides 1Wire bus interface to connect 1Wire devices such as temperature and humidity sensors
I2C port: For connecting other extension modules for example relay or analog output modules
RTC (Real Time Clock) module: Provides real time in case of internet or power outage (backup battery not included in the package).
Power 5V: 2.1mm connector for power supply
Digital inputs: 12(+2) galvanically isolated digital inputs with LED signalization for reading signals from external devices, windows or alarm sensors
12V out: Power supply 12V@200mA – only for use with digital inputs of the UniPi
Configurable ports: To configure digital inputs for use with external power source
Analog in: Two 0-10V analog inputs for reading analog signals and storing information about the performance and power consuption from certain devices
Analog out: One 0-10V analog output for proportional controlling of connected device
AO trimmer: For precise adjustment of the analog output

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi is a portable, powerful mini computer, compatible with UniPi Board. It is only as big as a credit card but it is a capable little PC. It can be used for many things that your desktop PC does, like high-definition video, home automation, railways or remote control. Raspberry Pi also has wide application range, such as music machines, parent detectors to weather stations, tweeting birdhouses with infra-red cameras, lightweight web server, home automation server, etc. It enables people of all ages to explore computing, learn to program and understand how computers work.
The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B is the second generation Raspberry Pi. It replaced the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ in February 2015.
Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10.

1Wire temperature sensor

1Wire temperature sensor DS18B20 is a digital temperature sensor protected in water-resistant stainless steel cap (6*30mm) with 1,5m long cable with RJ45 connector, which uses 1Wire protocol and is compatible with UniPi.

Power supply

UniPi Power Supply is high quality switching AC to DC 5V 2000mA power supply, ready to use with UniPi Board. It consists all certificates (FCC/CE) for world wide using.
This is switch mode power supply what means the output is regulated to 5V and the capable output current is much higher (2000mA). The power adaptor will accept inputs of 100V to 240V at 50 – 60Hz. Materials used to manufacture this charger are ROHS compliant.
